Whats goin on guys?!
I hate all those cheesey bio's that typical artists write up about themselves, talking in the third person about mastering the piano at the age of 3 and being a musical protégé. So, I'm just going to let you guys know a few things about me that may, or may not, interest you.
I was raised in Northern California, and currently go to the University of Arizona, studying Consumer Science and Retailing. I have been going to parties since my early teens, but i fell in love with the bass long before that. I can say that the feelings i had when i walked into my first party are along the lines of coming home after a long vacation away. I felt comfortable, and more importantly, like i found a group of people that was so dynamic and diverse that they were on the same level as me. There are a few times in a persons life where they can say they have had a true epiphany; that was most certainly one of mine.
Fast forwarding through my high school years spent at a boarding school in Monterey, California, my career as one who puts those records on started in Tucson, Arizona, in the summer of 2007. I have put an extreme amount of hard work and effort into getting where i am, having numerous 8 hour days behind the deck. It is the one of only three things i have really put my heart and soul into so far in my life; the only thing that i haven't given up after hitting roadblock after roadblock of not seeing progression. I can happily and proudly say that, this time, i had not given up. I had stuck through what i believe to be some of the most frustrating points in my life yet.
Which leads me to where i am now; a young, full of extreme energy and ready to take on the world attitude. I think that some kids in this scene are ready for what i am bringing to the tables; i am not the most technical, and i am not the best by any length of imagination. But i do believe that i have more heart than anyone else up there.
Obviously, I could not do this on my own. I share my success with a number of friends that have supported my throughout the past few years, but i also taught myself a lot of what i know. Creating my own style has been both frustrating and rewarding.
I've been lucky enough and simply honored to be booked for the same stage with other absolutely incredible artists like Darren Styles, Special D, Sharkey, Kevin Energy, Joey Riot, Scott Brown, Jamie Ritmen, Simon Apex, Hixxy, S3rl, Milo, Jimni Cricket, Starr & Rize, Caffiene, Doughboy, Marc Smith, Dan the Man, Super K, Crackerjack, Dupont, Ian K, The Doctor, Oli G, MrJakk, Dj Timid, and MC ADB. I really feel like i have been extremely fortunate with the amount of faith and support the local scene has given me. Coming out of the small, back-room house parties and onto the big stages is a dream coming true to me.
What the future holds... Who knows? In talks with my first out of state (Arizona) booking, as well as some self produced tracks, which are quite a ways off from being publicly heard. In the mean time, I plan on enjoying where I am at. I plan on really enjoying where I am… ;]
