The KaMinaRi Story
So my name is Tim Albertson and i hail from Sacramento, California in the US. I have quite a lot of different names; my dj name KaMinaRi and other random names such as Denki, Dj Turtwig (note my Soundcloud page), ChAoZ, etc. My story with hardcore music is quite a weird one. I never really started off listening to hardcore or any type of electronic music. My dad played a lot of funk and jazz so i picked up on that. It wasn't until middle school where i started gaining interest. I first started out on hardstyle when my friend showed me a video of the Melbourne Shuffle (yes i can shuffle). I was immediately hooked and started listening. I eventually encountered gabber and occassionally listened to it. It wasn't until a dj on myspace, a guy named DJ Skeltaboy added me. I listened to his mixes and was hooked immediately. Ever since i listened to his mixes hardcore was what i listened to every day.
I eventually gained interest in becoming a dj when i listened to a group of djs known as World of Djs. I would listen to them play and ask questions about djing. I eventually got a free program and messed around with that, then moved to Virtual Dj. Virtual Dj just didn't cut it after awhile so got some hardware in which i still use today.
My setup consists of:
Vestax VCI-300
Vestax VFX-1
Serato Itch
Pioneer CDJ 400
I first found GHA in 2008 soon after i was hooked on hardcore. I was basically on a mix hunting campaign. After i listened to the mixes on this site, i was hooked and joined the forums. I've met a lot of cool people through this site and wanted to one day be a GHA dj, which has happened.
Although i don't have as much experience as the other GHA djs, i have worked hard and have gained a lot of experience. Every time i get on the decks i learn something new even if it wasn't my best session.
Remember hard work pays off and who knows, you could become a GHA dj if you really worked at it.
